I spoke to my recruiter about Option 40 and asked if I could wait for a spot to come open and he said "We don't do that." He told me to find multiple MOS's I want. The thing is that if I enlist, I want an Option 40 because everything I have read states that having it in your contract is the only way to guarantee you a shot at Rangers.

The key metric for whether or not you can get an option 40 contract is your ASVAB score. It doesn’t matter if you were a A+ student in high school if you score poorly on the ASVAB. My suggestion to you if you want to get a specific job is to practice the ASVAB until you can do it blindfolded.
